Missing teenager found in stolen car

A missing teenage girl was found in a car which was stolen in a burglary.

The 16-year-old, who was reported missing from her home in the Clayton West area, was found in a black Audi at around 8.30pm last night (Sunday).

Detective Insp Ian Thornes, of Kirklees District CID, said: “We are investigating after a teenage girl reported missing from home in the Clayton West area of Huddersfield at 8.30pm last night was found in a stolen vehicle.

“The black Audi which was reported stolen in a burglary in Denby Dale earlier in the day was found in Savile Street, Emley, shortly after 11pm.

“A 16-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent and is currently in custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the vehicle.”
