Motorcyclist suffered head and leg injuries in city-centre smash

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a city-centre crash this week.

The biker collided with a silver Renault Megane near to the junction of Wood Street and The Bullring on Thursday morning, April 26, at around 9am.

Several shop workers around the area reported hearing the crash and seeing the motorcyclist lying in road.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the area was taped off to traffic.

Several paramedics were seen administering first aid to the man before he was put on a spinal board and was taken to hospital in an ambulance. He had suffered a head and leg injuries.

There were not reported injuries to the car driver but the vehicle, which came to rest on Wood Street, had a badly damaged bumper.

The road reopened at about 9.40am.
