Burglars stole mountain bikes worth £14,000 from a house in Castleford yesterday (Sunday).

Two bikes - one worth £8,000 and the other worth £6,000 – were taken from the property on Hunt Street at around 5.45pm while the occupants were upstairs.

Police said two men gained access through an unlocked door and attempted to steal a television before being disturbed.

They then fled the property on the bikes (pictured).

Insp Dave Bugg, of Castleford neighbourhood policing team, said: “I would appeal for anyone who has any information or saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident to get in touch.

“Also, if anyone sees these bikes contact Castleford NPT on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555111.”

The suspects are described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall and of a slim build.

The bikes stolen were a S-Works Enduro and a Kona Stab Supreme.
