Families of children and young people with special educational needs are being asked to help shape a new website outlining the services available to them.

Wakefield Council is currently working on the site as part of the Wakefield Local Offer, which enables people to see what is on offer in their area and how to access services.

The council has organised drop-in sessions at Chesney’s Centre, Regent Street, Castleford, from 1pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, July 10, and at the Airedale Library and Learning Centre, The Square, from 1pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 23. A third session will be held at the Five Towns Resource and Technology Centre, Welbeck Street, Castleford, from 1pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, July 24.

Coun Olivia Rowley, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We want as many people as possible to have their say so we can understand what is important to them. This consultation will give families the chance to shape the way in which the Local Offer is published.”

The consultation runs until July 28.
