TEACHERS will hold a race night to raise money to fly home one of their former colleagues who remains in a coma in a Thai Hospital.

Adam Pickles, 40, is still fighting for his life after he was attacked with a metal bar a month ago.

He taught at Cathedral Academy between 2001 and 2005, but had been teaching English in Thailand.

Staff at the school have organised a race night for 8.15pm on Friday, July 13, at Thornes Cricket Club, Field Lane.

During the past week Mr Pickles had periods of unaided breathing, but is now showing signs of a fever and pneumonia.

Supporters have raised £41,000 towards an expected £70,000 needed to fly him back for treatment.
