Officer junior works her way up to be owner of Castleford firm

An insurance broker who has worked her way through the ranks at R Collins and Co since doing work experience 31 years ago has taken over the business.

Tracey Train, who attended Castleford High School at the time, completed the two week placement in July 1985 before taking on a Saturday job filing and doing paperwork.

She then joined the Castleford town centre brokers as an office junior when she left school in 1986 before working her way up to office manager in 2003 and partner in 2010.

In December last year, Ms Train bought the business from Robert Collins, who was retiring after running the Bank Street firm for 40 years.

Ms Train said she was thrilled to have accomplished so much since starting on her work experience and that she was ‘excited about the future’.

The insurance broker firm is now an all-women team - including Ms Train’s aunt who first got her the job.

The company offers independent insurance that is designed to suit the customer, along with a professional, impartial and competitive service. Local and national clients can access to a wide range of insurance products from some of the UK’s biggest insurers.
