It is an ‘Over 40s match’ but the average age is more than 50, with some players in their sixties.

Co-organiser Andrew Hartshorne, who is hoping to raise £10,000 for two good causes, said: “Last year’s gruelling match ended 4-1 to the Cricketers. Some of the old boys were unable to walk for a week. So this year expect some ferocious playing as the two teams go head to head again.”

All monies raised will go to breast and testicular cancer foundations. Last year they raised £1,850 for Motor Neurone Disease after family man John Ogilvie passed away aged 51.

Over the past decade Horbury Town have raised money for various charities which the club has been touched by, like Wakefield Hospice and groups who tackle meningitis and asthma.

This year’s game kicks off at 11.30am. There will be an entrance donation and match day programmes. Raffle tickets are on sale now and will be on sale on match day.
