Straw-filled versions of Olympic heroes Sir Steve Redgrave and Usain Bolt lined the streets for the annual Ossett Scarecrow Festival last weekend.
Hundreds of people attended this years ‘world in motion’ themed festival which ran as part of the monthly Yorkshire food and craft market.
An impressive gardening World Cup scene created by class eight at South Parade Primary School was crowned the winner and they were rewarded with Building Ossett Better vouchers to spend in the town.
Harry Watts claimed second place with his chain reaction display and year five and six at Gawthorpe Community Academy came a close third with his scarecrow of five time gold medal winning rower Sir Steve Redgrave.
Mark Ellerker, owner of Eller Coffee, said: “The scarecrow festival was as popular as ever with some very creative offerings.
“The town was a lot busier than usual which is great for the monthly Yorkshire Market and local businesses.
“We are already looking forward to the pumpkin carving.”
This month’s Yorkshire food and craft market will be accompanied by a pumpkin competition. The event is on Saturday, October 25 at 10am and it is free to enter.
