LETTER: Ackworth is paying the price for new housing developments

Unfortunately the residents of Ackworth are now paying the price for the relentlessly endless developments that have happened within the village over the years.

The latest development being 280ish dwellings (Strata).

Having tried unsuccessfully four times over ten days to get an appointment to see a doctor, it seems that this is one of the many prices that we have to pay.

One of the receptionists said that she’d never known it to have been so busy for so long, some days it was endless.

Considering that WMDC now call our village a service centre, that title was inflicted without any consultation whatsoever. I suppose that being a service centre we should have amenities in plenty.

Sadly, that’s not the case. We’re lacking in a number of facilities, in particular these being for both young and old people.

Poor bus services, which are important for both the young and old. Poor policing, the village used to have up to four policemen for a village that was a fraction of its current size, but we now have a single PCSO who has to cover an enormous area.

Furthermore it looks like we’re going to have a bypass inflicted upon us, with all the extra housing, commercial development, extra congestion and pollution that goes with it.

We’ve been let down by both councils and both sets of councillors over the years.

So WMDC enough is enough, thank you.
