LETTER: 'Councillors use our area as their personal dumping ground'

They talk about climate change and how the environment can harm our children, but it would appear that this only applies to every other area.

There are thousands of houses going up, despite the local community having problems obtaining doctors’ appointments as it is and more and more vehicles with their air pollution.

We have put up with Welbeck toxic tip for years and was promised that when the numerous extensions to this project were finished we would have a lovely landscaped area.

It would appear now that the councillors have been economical with the truth and that they propose to allow a thousand extra houses to be built on this land (I don’t know who would want to live on top of a toxic tip).

We still don’t know the cost, and what the property is to be used for, that the council purchased on the Normanton Industrial Estate.

Despite this being taxpayers money, not the councillors personal bank, is the reason behind the secrecy the fact that some other nasty surprise is in store for Normanton?

We have numerous illegal camp sites in the area, not to mention a very busy motorway. It appears that the councillors do not care for the health and welfare of the local community and it is probably time that they went the same way as Mary Creagh.
