From Ossett to Tinseltown

It is a fairy tale story that every young actor dreams of.

But Nathan Shaw’s rise from head boy at Ossett Academy to the bright lights of Hollywood is not fiction.

The 25-year-old actor landed his first big break when he starred in US movie Vampire Academy two years ago.

And now he has landed a trio of roles for shows in his new home city of Los Angeles, which are due to be released this year.

Nathan will take to the big screen as a Russian cinematographer in the planned 2016 movie Film School Musical as well as starring in the feature film City of Dogs, produced by Emmy Award winner Elliott Williams.

But the promising actor, who trained at West Yorkshire Theatre Dance School in Ossett, hasn’t forgotten where he came from.

He said: “It’s not the easiest of careers, entertainment. However, it’s one of the most rewarding and I’m loving every minute of it.

“I want to thank my parents, Christopher and Wendy Shaw, for supporting me every step of the way and Ossett Academy for their help in kick starting my career.”

Following his move to California in 2013, Nathan studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy school and graduated his two-year course last February.

He is now also working on new web-series Bluffside Drive, where he plays the role of Jake, a British teenage heartthrob from a famous band.
