The Card Factory’s campaign has so far raised more than £13,000.

The current Guinness World Record for the largest thank you card stands at 239.95 square metres, and is held by Provident Housing Limited (India).

To break this record, Card Factory’s attempt will need to measure more than 18 metres tall - around the length of a cricket pitch.

The card, which will be manufactured at the company’s printing site near Bradford, will be assembled on site with the help of a crane.

It comes as your Express launches The Big Thank You - a new campaign designed to thank everyone who has gone above and beyond to help others during lockdown.

As our country faces one of its toughest peacetime challenges to date, thousands of people have stepped up to show their support for friends, families, colleagues and strangers.

Next week, as the UK prepares to mark the NHS’ 72nd birthday, we will show our thanks to as many people as we can, honouring their hard work and sacrifices.

For those making the ultimate sacrifice on the frontline in our hospitals their decisions - under a pressure they have never faced before - have truly meant the difference between life and death.

Meanwhile, thousands of people across the country answered the call to join the nation’s volunteer army to support the National Health Service and become a lifeline to those who were unable to leave their homes.

For others it can be a simple remarkable act of kindness that has resonated with them: be it a trip to the shop, a friendly wave to a vulnerable neighbour or a rainbow in a window.

Be they health workers, teachers, volunteers or community figures, we want to offer our thanks to them all.

Our nation is full to the brim with Unsung Heroes, and with your help, we would like to give them The Big Thank You they deserve.

A message from deputy editor Gavin Murray:

The Express series has launched a new campaign - The Big Thank You - and I am writing to request your help please to ensure we celebrate as many people as possible.

We are joining dozens of other JPIMedia newspapers across the country building to a celebration next month to thank all of our key workers, support teams and volunteers who have kept the town operating and keeping residents safe.

My vision is that this special edition of your Express will be filled with pictures of those who have made such a difference to our community - pages and pages of photographs of teams and individuals.

We are aiming for Thursday, July 9 for the special edition.

And this is where I need your help please, particularly in supplying and sourcing photographs of your teams.

There are thousands of people who have gone above and beyond and we want to celebrate them.

We want to hear about your friends, families, colleagues - anyone who has made a difference to your or someone else during the pandemic.

I do hope that you are able to support this campaign.

Entries for The Big Thank You close next week, so if you’ve got someone in mind, email your nominations to [email protected] today.
