#ThankHoliday posts will start on Good Friday at 9am on social media, and the aim is to get the message trending in appreciation of everyone’s efforts.

The dedication and resilience of all key workers who are working over the Bank Holiday to keep people safe is outstanding, and Wakefield Council believe that they all deserve national recognition.

Key workers, such as nurses, social workers, doctors, bin crews, supermarket staff, delivery drivers, police officers and many more are working exceptionally hard to deliver services to the public during this very difficult time.

Swapping your Bank Holiday for a #ThankHoliday is a great way to put a smile on their faces and show them that their hard work will never go unnoticed.

Coun Denise Jeffery, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: “Our key workers, across all sectors, are simply amazing. When we’re all being asked to stay at home, they are out on the frontline to keep us safe, or working behind the scenes to make sure we all still have access to vital services and provisions.

“They deserve to be thanked for all their hard work and that’s why we’re asking everyone across the Wakefield district and beyond to join in with our #ThankHoliday campaign and show them just how much we appreciate everything that they’re doing.”
