Zoe Gaitley, who runs Hair ‘n’ Beauty in Castleford, has been busy collecting donations and making comfort packs for key workers and emergency services.

She got the idea when a regular client, Anthony Carlin, who works in care, inspired her to make a difference.

Zoe said: “I do a lot in the community as it is, I’m part of Smawthorne Welfare Action team so I know we’ve got a great community who always support us.

Zoe Gaitley, who runs Hair n Beauty in Castleford, has been busy collecting donations and making comfort packs for key workers and emergency services.

“My client suggested the idea of helping out and it made sense as I have the salon which is like a big community hub for a lot of people.

“I wasn’t sure at first but I gave it a go and it really took off, I’m getting donations all the time, people leave them at the salon and I collect them and make them into packs to give to hospitals, care homes and emergency services.”

For the past four weeks, Zoe has delivered to Pinderfields, Dewsbury and Pontefract hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies and the food bank at the Link, which is catering to a lot of people in the current climate.

Zoe said: “I wanted to do something for the food bank as well.

“They are supporting a lot of people who have lost their jobs and found themselves in unfair situations.

“If anyone can donate a tin,a packet or any hygiene and feminine products they can be dropped off at the salon, Hair n Beauty on Smawthorne Lane.

“If you can’t get out I’m happy to come and collect.

“I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far and we couldn’t achieve any of this without your generosity.”
