Most people are now spending longer periods of time with their loved ones than ever before and this is bound to bring about some added challenges.

Together, with 14 other local authorities across the Yorkshire and Humber region, the council will be supporting the launch of ‘Relationship Matters’ - a new website offering families information, tips and help on how to overcome relationship difficulties.

Whether couples are together or separated, disagreements are completely normal but evidence shows that regular conflict has a big impact on children.

Coun Margaret Isherwood, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “All relationships have tricky moments but it is how they are resolved that matters, especially at the moment, to help us all get through lockdown.

“The way adults communicate with each other, whether together or separated, has an impact on their children and we want families to be able to recognise when their relationship may be having difficulties and give them the tools to resolve and deal with any conflict.

“If you recognise any of the signs below then take a look at the website for information, help and advice.’’
