Diggerland in Castleford closed as a result of coronavirus pandemic but plans to reopen in mid-July.

A spokeswoman for the theme park said: "Diggerland is currently working on a reopening and hopes to see many digger fans through the doors and enjoying the rides and drives very soon. We are aiming for a mid-July reopening, government guidelines permitting, however an exact date is still yet to be confirmed.

"Customers are advised to refer to the Diggerland website for all of the latest updates and announcements.

"Various hygiene and safety practices will be in place to ensure visitors are protected as much as possible."

Non-essential shops were allowed to reopen from last week as lockdown restrictions lift.

No fixed date has yet been announced by the government for when theme parks and other tourists attractions will be allowed to safely reopened.
