The Addy in Knottingley, which last month was named the best adventure playground in Yorkshire, is beating social isolation with a continued programme of events, including a daily ‘Addy Bordeom Buster’ challenge online for youngsters.

A bag of activities were left on the doorsteps of each of the youngsters and the elderly and vulnerable had bags of essentials, courtesy of Morrisons, left on their doorsteps, as well as weekly checks on their wellbeing.

More than 500 Easter eggs have been donated thanks to Wakefield District Housing’s Abbi Jones and will be collected once lockdown is lifted.

A community play scheme is doing all it can to keep people connected during lockdown, including weekly phone calls to elderly folk and daily challenges for youngsters.

Holly Corbett from The Addy said: “The challenges have been received well, it’s been great to connect with the young people.

“The elderly have been overjoyed with our phone calls, we are able to link them to people who can help with shopping as lots are feeling isolated.”
