Jenny Thompson owns restaurants Qubana, Robatary and Fino in Wakefield city centre.

The restaurants have moved into home delivery and adapted outdoor sections in the hope Wakefield will return to Tier 2 and the city can welcome back diners.

Jenny said: “We are hanging on for the news of a change in our tier, that will allow us to open our doors to the public again. However I fear our optimism might soon be shattered.

“We have adapted our outdoor areas at all the restaurants.

“Qubana has a brand new stretch tent covering the roof terrace. It has created the most beautiful winter hide out.

“Fino has an outdoor ‘bubble/igloo’ that can seat six people.

“Robatary has created an in/out area on their terrace to make it more comfortable for outdoor dining.

“We are sitting tight, thanking our customers from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to order from us, and for buying gift vouchers via palmhomedining.co.uk.

“Fingers crossed for a much brighter 2021 – Lets celebrate Christmas at Easter!”

The Yorkshire Deli on Northgate is another restaurant that branched into delivery.

But it all means additional costs and owner Christian Lawlor said there have been several weeks where the deli was unable to turn a profit.

But he said customers had backed the deli and encouraged anyone to come pick up some food over the festive period.

He said: “The year has been terrible for us, just like everyone else. But we do have a very loyal customer base and people genuinely like to share and interact with us online.”
