Shocking footage shows moment machete-wielding thugs attempt to break-in to a Wakefield house - with a little girl inside

A gang of masked men tried breaking into the home of a Wakefield family - despite being heard saying there was a little girl inside the house.

The father of the girl released the video of the gang of four trying to beak into the house in Crofton at 10pm on Monday.

It shows the men kicking the back door of the house and at one point one of them can be heard saying 'There's a little girl in there' before carrying on the attempted break-in.

As three of the four men move out of sight from the camera, another of the gang moves behind to try and look through a window - carrying a machete in his hand.

He kicks the door again while the machete carrying man tries to force the door handle.

The father shared the video with the hope of identifying the group.

He has offered a reward of £1,000 with the hope of information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

A police spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing following an attempted break-in at a house in Crofton, Wakefield.

"The offence occurred at about 10pm on March 2 after around four or five men attempted to break into a house on Manorfields Avenue.

"They failed to force entry and fled the scene."

He said police Investigations are ongoing and anyone who has information is urged to contact Wakefield District CID on 101 referencing crime number 132000111818.
