Starving teenager who could 'hardly stand' found on M1 near Wakefield

A teenager, believed to have entered the country illegally, was found wandering along the M1 this morning.

PC Martin Willis, from West Yorkshire Police, known as 'Motorway Martin' said he found the exhausted teenager near junction 40 of the M1 just after 12.05am today (Monday).

PC Willis said in a tweet: "Just picked up a young Iranian from the outside lane of the M1.

"He had arrived by lorry, was very thirsty, hungry and could hardly stand.

"It is tragic that in the midst of this global crisis, there are many people that still have no other option than to risk their lives like this."

West Yorkshire Police have said the teenager is now being cared for by social services.
