An incredible video was taken of five-year-old Ada Butterfield completing the run around Allerton Bywater and scores of people came out to clap and cheer her on.

Some had even made placards and banners in support.

The youngster was born with a rare liver disease, biliary atresia, meaning she will need a lifetime of treatment and possibly a liver transplant.

Ada's mum was due to run the London Marathon in aid of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation but the race was cancelled due to the pandemic.

So, the youngster laced up her running shoes with her mum Emma and dad Mick and completed the #TwoPointSixChallenge, an initiative to help save charities from folding during the lockdown.

And the results were heartwarming with Yorkshire Pics capturing the youngster's run, and even added the Chariots of Fire theme as the trio crossed the finishing line in slow motion.

Emma Butterfield said: "We planned the route locally and put it on Facebook to ask if people could give us a cheer and it far exceeded our expectations.

"It's a brilliant example of the community coming out to support the cause.

"We've had people say it really gave them a lift.

"It was really lovely and we got so much support.

"We only did it with the aim of getting £100 but we are above £4,000.

"People gave us over £300 just on the route!"

After such a positive response, Emma is now hoping to organise a children's fun run next year through Allerton Bywater.
