Morgana and Hellraiser, currently based in The Ridings, have each been in business for more than 25 years.

Hellraiser owner Sherridan Crompton is looking to a brighter 2021 with a vaccine on the horizon but said lockdown was the right call earlier this year.

She said: “We needed to close to help get the virus to be on its way.

“People’s lives are more important than my livelihood.

“We have been lucky and I feel for shops that have struggled but on the other hand – you’re alive.”

Sherridan thinks the niche products sold by Hellraiser and Bea Firth at Morgana has kept customers coming back, even during a pandemic.

She said: “I think for both of us, particularly the type of customer we have, they like to come in a look at what they’re buying, if it’s T-shirt or if it’s having a good look through the records.”
