Wakefield songwriting parents' tune to raise cash for NHS health heroes

Vikki and John Wright of Ossett, said they feel lucky to be able to stay safe at home with their five children and wanted to thank NHS health heroes.

Vikki, 39, who works as a piano teacher, and husband John, 41, first wrote the song 'You'll Always Be' in 2014 in memory of Vikki's aunt Rosemarie Booth, 63, who died after suffering from cancer.

They released the song to raise cash for Yorkshire Cancer Research in memory of Rosemarie, who worked as a dietician at Pontefract Hospital.

They have now re-released the song to raise funds for NHS Charities Together via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/youll-always-beIt is sung by one of Vikki's former piano students, Penny Emmott, of Newmillerdam, Wakefield.

Vikki said: "We feel selfish being at home with our loved ones staying safe while the NHS and frontline workers are out there fighting for us.

"We as a family wanted to release this single as our way of saying thank you.

"We just wanted to give something back to the NHS .

"The reason we released the song again is the words are very real to what we are going through now.

"Just listening back to the song we thought it was quite poignant."

Vikki is unable to work as a piano teacher due to coronavirus restrictions and husband John has been furloughed from his driving job.

The couple are being kept busy looking after children Lily, 13; Lennon, nine; Melody, eight, Jack, six and two-year-old Willow.

Vikki met John at Wakefield's Clarence Park Music Festival in 2004 when he was the drummer in a band playing at the festival.

The couple have been in a number of bands together, including Secret Circuits, and have co-written several songs.

Penny Emmott, singer on You'll Always Be, said: "Hopefully the song will promote a bit of positivity in times of difficulty."

The song, which has been produced by James Kenosha, of Leeds, is on YouTube and is set to be released this week on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify and other music services.
