Auctioneers Christie's said: "Christie’s wrote: “The Sir Geoffrey Boycott Collection is one of the last great collections of cricketing memorabilia left in private hands, chronicling the career of the Yorkshire and England legend.”

Among the items is the scorebook from the former England captain’s debut for Ackworth in 1954 when he was just 13, with predictions it could sell for up to £500.

The bat in which he hit his highest ever test score of 246, against India in front of his home crowd in 1967, is also available to bid for with a starting price of £1,600.

Boycott was famously and controversially dropped by England selectors afterwards because of the slow rate in which he acquired his record total.

The auction will run for another 18 days. To have a look at the items available to bid for, click here.
