Police appeal after robbery in Wakefield

Police are appealing for information after a man was robbed of his mobile phone in Wakefield.

The incident happened on Friday night (August 22) at around 9.10pm when the victim was approached by a man asking for the time, as he walked onto Belle Vue Road from Agbrigg Road. As the victim looked down to check his mobile phone he was punched in the face and fell to the ground. The robber then stole his phone and fled the scene.

Officers want to speak to man aged between 18 - 22 in connection with the offence. He is described as 5’9” - 5’10” tall, with dark brown hair that was short at the sides and possibly longer on top and swept to the side. He was wearing a long sleeved plain black jumper and dark trousers.

DC Donna Moss of Wakefield CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the description of the man to get in contact and to ask for me.”
