Police name pensioner who died days after he was hit by car

A pensioner who died days after he was hit by a car has been named by police.

John Richardson, 88, of Wakefield, died after the incident on Flanshaw Road last Tuesday at about 1pm.

A Ford Focus, which was travelling towards Batley Road, struck Mr Richardson as he tried to cross the road close to the bend at the bottom of Flanshaw Road.

Police said Mr Richardson was also known to his friends as Jack.

Det Sgt Carole Greaves, of the police Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “We are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who was in the area at around 1pm that day who has seen anything that could help our ongoing enquiries.”
