POLICE found a crop of cannabis growing in the basement of a house.
Officers from the Central neighbourhood police team (NPT) raided the house on Hardy Croft , Eastmoor, on Saturday morning.
About 50 plants at various stages of maturity were seized and it is the second cannabis farm busted by the NPT in the past fortnight.
Another farm was out out of action on Westfield Grove, College Grove, on July 31.
Sgt David Todd of Wakefield Central NPT said: “This is the second cannabis farm in less than two weeks that has been found in the area and should serve as a warning that there is nowhere to hide for those that deal in drugs.
“With ongoing assistance from partner agencies and the community we will develop any and all intelligence passed to us and take all action open to us to remove the blight of drugs from our streets.”
A man in his 20s was arrested at the house and has been charged with production of cannabis.
