The Glynn, on Bradford Road in Wrenthorpe, was shut down by its manager, with 16 elderly residents moved out into new accommodation this month.

Now, agents working on behalf of the property have applied for the building to be converted into a family home with parking space for two cars.

A final decision on the proposal will eventually be made by Wakefield Council.

Speaking last week, The Glynn's manager Sharon Blick, said she was "very, very sad" to have closed the venue down, having run it since the early 1980s.

The home was placed in special measures by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) last year, but Ms Blick strongly denied the regulator's verdict that elderly residents were not safe or well looked after.
