Seaside spirit drew thousands of people to the city centre last weekend.
Wakefield Council’s second annual Seaside in the City event took place on both Saturday and Sunday.
A sand pit, helter skelter and lots of ice cream helped to transform the cathedral precinct, Bull Ring, and the city’s shopping centres into a seaside resort for families.
Coun David Dagger, the council’s cabinet member for culture, said around 50,000 people turned out over the weekend.
He added: “Seaside in the City brings the whole community together.
“ It is great to see the city centre working together to deliver this hugely popular event and even more fantastic to see so many families having fun and really enjoying themselves.
“All the activities were free and the turnout shows just what a successful weekend it was. Even the sun made an appearance.”
