Classical music and film scores will be performed at Pontefract Castle this weekend as part of a full-day of activities.
The West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert at the venue on Saturday, July 11.
There will also be a picnic at the castle event with stalls, dance displays and a bouncy castle during the day.
The concert, organised by Wakefield Council, will include a performance of the Star Wars theme.
It will start at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
The picnic event, organised by the council and Pontefract Heritage Group, will run from 11am until 4pm.
Coun Les Shaw, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for culture and sport, said: “This will be a great weekend for Pontefract and the proms programme looks really entertaining.
“I’d encourage people to get their tickets and come along.
“The picnic is also a great opportunity for families to get together, relax and have fun in a beautiful setting.
“Last year more than 4,000 came to the picnic - it has quickly become one of the highlights of the Pontefract season.”
The council said more than 1,000 tickets have already been sold for the proms event.
Martin Lodge, vice-chairman of Pontefract Heritage Group, said: “Pontefract Heritage Group is committed to delivering events that promote the heritage of our town.
“The picnic event gives us an opportunity to work with the council to promote the town and district’s jewel in the heritage crown.”
Tickets bought in advance cost £6 for adults and £4 for children.
They are available from Pontefract Castle, Pontefract Library and Wakefield Visitor Centre.
