Popular Wakefield cafe to close down this weekend

The Lakeside Cafe on Barnsley Road will close after five years in business, its owners have announced.

In a statement, owner Jon Coxon said: "As many of our customers know, Lakeside Cafe has been our family's baby for the past five years.

"We have worked 24/7 and made lots of family sacrifices to make Lakeside Cafe as successful as it has been.

"It has brought us many opportunities, the best memories, and most importantly we have met some amazing people, loyal customers and gained so many friends along the way.

"It is with heavy hearts that as a family we have taken the decision to close after this coming weekend, Sunday September 2.

"We would like to apologise to our loyal customers who have supported us from day one. We cannot thank you enough for your support and love.

"We would also like to thank the staff over the five years, who have made Lakeside what it was, with their hard work and dedication.

"We will all be forever grateful for what you have helped us achieve and hope we will have your continued support going forward."

Mr Coxon said anyone with a booking would be contacted.

The Lakeside was voted third in this year's Wakefield Express Cafe of the Year awards.
