Public meeting in Pontefract over future of children’s centres

People can voice their opinions about a controversial shake-up of the district’s children’s centres at a meeting in Pontefract tonight.

A public consultation event will be held from 6pm-7.30pm at De Lacy Primary School, on Chequerfield Lane, over plans by Wakefield Council which could see some centres close.

The district’s 23 children’s centres could be centralised into six main hubs and three “linked sites”, offering extra support in deprived areas.

• Tuesday, September 30, at St Michael’s CE Academy, Flanshaw Lane, Wakefield
