Rail passengers warned of delays and sudden cancellations due to Storm Dennis
Rail passengers are being advised to avoid travelling this weekend because of impending Storm Dennis.
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is advising customers of disruption to their journeys on Saturday and Sunday with heavy rain and high winds expected.
Possible speed restrictions could be put in place by Network Rail along the LNER route, which runs through Wakefield Westgate, leading to longer journey times, short-notice delays and cancellations.
Warrick Dent, LNER safety and operations director, said: “We are encouraging our customers with tickets dated for Saturday 15 or Sunday 16 February to defer travel to Monday where possible.
“We expect services to be extremely busy throughout the weekend and will have extra staff on duty to help."
