The company said it has recently surveyed sewers in the area, as part of an investigation into reports of flooding from the sewer network.

The works are expected to take place for eight weeks from Tuesday, May 8, between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

For the first four weeks, a section of the road will be shut.

A fully signed diversion will be in place, using High Green Road, Station Road to the A655 Castleford Road and California Drive for the Wakefield Europort.

And bus services 187 and 188 will follow the diverted route.

The company said it had been in talks with West Yorkshire Metro and would provide a shuttled bus to connect Church Road and Altoft customers with the service buses in Market Street, Normanton.

It said bin collections, pedestrian access, businesses and water and waste services would not be affected.

"Please be assured we'll do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work as quickly as possible," it said.
