Engineers were called out in the early hours of this morning to Ferrybridge Road, close to the junction with Healdfield Road, with water pouring across the pavements and onto the carriageway.

The road was immediately shut and repair work began.

Yorkshire Water said this afternoon: "Early this morning we had a burst water main on Ferrybridge Road, which has caused significant damage to the road.

"Our engineers are on site and are working hard to repair the issue, we hope to have the road open again in the next few days."

The road is shut to all traffic and all bus services are being diverted.
