Road reopens in Castleford after two-vehicle smash

A road has reopened in Castleford this morning following a two-vehicle crash.

Fire crews from Pontefract and Castleford were called to Fryston Road at around 6.30am.

The smash involved a BMW X5 and a Subaru Forester. When crews arrived the driver of the Subaru was trapped and the roof of the vehicle had to be cut off to free him.

He was rushed to hospital suffering from suspected spinal injuries and injuries to his legs.

The driver of the other vehicle escaped from the car uninjured before emergency services arrived at the scene.

Diversions were put in place while the scene was cleared.
