Royal British Legion’s 90th anniversary parade

The 90th anniversary celebration of the Royal British Legion is being marked by the South and West Yorkshire Branch in Wakefield tomorrow. ( Saturday)

At 10.30am the Royal British Legion’s Riders’ Branch will arrive on the Bull Ring, Wakefield, and make their way to the cathedral, followed at 11.00 am by a concert performed by the Military Transport Band on the Bull Ring.

At 1pm pm a VIP Reception will be hosted by the Mayor of Wakefield, Coun Ros Lund, in the Treacy Hall, Wakefield Cathedral.

And at 1.45 pm the parade will muster at Laburnum Road, following which the Lord Lieutenant, Mayor and the legion’s President will lay wreaths at the war memorial.

At 2.10 pm the parade will then move off to the cathedral via Wood Street, with a salute as they pass the Town Hall.

A concert by Crofton Silver Band will take place at 2.30 pm at the Cathedral , followed by a service at 4.15 pm where a collection will be taken.
