NORMANTON Super League rugby star Ben Cockayne is under investigation again after being allegedly involved in a police car chase.
Cockayne, who plays for Hull KR, and teammate Liam Watts, from Castleford, have been suspended by their club after an incident in Normanton during the early hours of Sunday.
Police stopped a car on Western Gales Way, after suspecting the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
But the car drove before hitting a parked car.
The driver and the passenger made off from the scene and officers gave chase.
A 20-year-old man, believed to be Watts was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the limit and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
The players had been in Castleford following Rovers’ Super League win at Harlequins on Saturday.
Cockayne’s former club Wakefield Wildcats travel to play his current club Hull KR on Sunday.
Cockayne has previous discipline problems and was given a final warning by Rovers for an alleged racist comment posted on Facebook in May.
He also received a 12-month suspended sentence and was suspended by Rovers for two months in 2009 for assault causing actual bodily harm.
Police investigations are ongoing.
