A TRUCK driver was left red in the face when his lorry got stuck under a bridge.
The 49-year-old driver told bosses at RG Wastecare that a satellite navigation system had led him to drive under the metal bridge on Denby Dale Road.
He had ignored warning signs on the approach to the bridge, and his truck ground to a halt after hitting the underside and becoming lodged half way through the underpass.
The vehicle’s tyres had to be deflated and it was then reversed out.
Company director Andrew Green said: “It beggars belief. He’s gone past a sign that’s flashing and warning him that there’s a bridge ahead when he is carrying a very high load.
“Any half brain-dead driver would see that imposing bridge. It’s unfathomable.”
