Calder Security was established in 1976 by Phil Lynskey. He sold the company to senior engineer Simon Cook ten years ago but still works there as sales manager.

The company birthday plans include relocating to a larger facility on Roundwood Industrial Estate in Wakefield. The move will make them one of West Yorkshire’s biggest independent security retail shops.

Mr Cook said: “We have experienced massive growth over the last nine years since moving to our current premises on Calder Vale Road. The main issue we have is with stock and equipment due to the number of installations we’re doing – we simply don’t have the space to store it between jobs – plus we wanted a larger shop space and have a growing office team so new premises were needed.

“The new facility gives us a huge storage and workshop area plus other advantages such as better parking and good transport links being based right next to the M1 and the M62 within easy reach.”

Calder Security will shut up shop at Calder Vale Road at 5pm on July 1 and will open at the new facility at 8.30am on July 4. They are also staging an open day there on Saturday, July 9 from 10am to 2pm.
