Sessions on offer for bereaved people

Bereaved people have been invited join a social group to make new friends, gain confidence and learn new skills.

Age UK’s Touchstones project aims to help people who have lost their partner and help them live life to the full.

It offers monthly sessions where people can learn valuable skills such as sewing, cooking and how to use a computer.

Libby Eades, health and wellbeing worker at Age UK, said: “The idea behind the project is to help people who have lost their partners, and the skills that their partners may have had, and to remain independent through the exchanging of skills amongst one another.”

The next session will focus on how to mend and repair clothes using a sewing machine.

It takes place on Wednesday at Hall Green Community Centre from 2.30pm to 4pm and is free to anyone aged 50 or over and who is bereaved.

Before the session starts there will be a chair exercise class which is open to everyone. It costs £2.50 and includes refreshments. For more information call 01977 552114.
