A £100,000 sewer project will help to protect Lofthouse from flooding.

Yorkshire Water contractors will start work on Monday to replace aging pipe in the area of Green Lane.

And it means Green Lane will be closed between Carlton Lane and Greenmoor Avenue for about 10 days.

Temporarily lights will be in place at the junction between Carlton Lane and Cemetery Lane, and at the junction of Green Lane and Jumbles Lane.

And Arriva’s 153 service which uses Green Lane will be diverted along Cemetery Lane using temporary bus stops.

Michael Glew, Yorkshire Water’s project manager, comments: “Work of this scale is always likely to result in some traffic disruption however please be assured we’ll do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum.

“Access will be maintained for residents of Jumbles Lane and Jumbles Court and we will also enable road side parking for these residents.

“We would like to thank residents and road users in advance for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“We’re really pleased to be playing our part in tackling the issue of surface water flooding in the area during times of very heavy rainfall.”
