Show support for country's Armed Forces

The country's dedicated servicemen and women will be honoured in Pontefract at this year's Armed Forces Day.

Pontefract Park will host the event this year, which is organised by Wakefield Council.

It will take place on Saturday, June 25 and feature a Lancaster Bomber flypast, Parachute freefall, a police dogs display team and a search demonstration from a police helicopter.

Other attractions on the day include a giant slide, bouncy castle, climbing towers, bungee trampoline, face painting and paint balling.

And visitors will also be able to meet animal from Owl Adventures, a falconry-based mobile zoo.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, St Johns Ambulance, Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Air Training Corps and Scouts members will be attending the event.

Winners of the Armed Forces Day children’s competition will also have their prizes awarded at the event by Lord St Oswald and army veteran Ben Parkinson MBE.

Entry and parking to the event in Park Road is free of charge.
