Budding young singer Kaci Hepworth is celebrating after being crowned winner of a regional talent contest.
The 11-year-old Ferrybridge youngster won the Yorkshire’s Got Talent competition held in Wetherby on Saturday.
Her proud dad Simon Hepworth, of Crewe Avenue, said: “Kaci was lost for words when they announced her as the winner.
“The competition has been a real eye-opener for her. It had a really professional set-up and there were about 500 people there so it’s given her an insight as to what singing could mean for her.”
The Normanton Freeston Academy pupil impressed the judging panel of Emmerdale TV stars Mark Charnock, Katherine Dow Blyton, Charlotte Bellamy and John Middleton to take top spot.
Mr Hepworth added: “ The show itself was fantastic entertainment. All the acts were unbelievable - it was like watching a professional show.
“They had a rock band, a dance school and a comedian but when they announced Kaci as the winner she couldn’t believe it.
“I think she was in shock for about two or three days afterwards.”
Kaci has also used her muscial talents to raise money for several local charities.
Mr Hepworth added: “Kaci has always loved anything to do with music. She can play the piano and is also learning to play the drums.”
The Yorkshire’s Got Talent competition raised around £10,000 for Gemma Newman, who suffered sudden and life-changing brain bleeds after collapsing at work in May last year.
