Skate park in memory of late Daniel Parrinder set for go-ahead after cash boost

Community campaigners have secured a £50,000 grant to help build a new skate park in south Leeds.

The grant from the Landfill Communities Funding programme follows cash injections from Leeds City Council’s Outer South Community Committee and the local Housing Advisory Panel.

It means that a new skate park could be built in Springhead Park, Rothwell, to replace a facility considered dangerous when wet. Potential designs have been drawn up with the help of skaters.

The 8010 Association, a charity set up in the name of late skater Daniel Parrinder who was tragically killed in a car accident last year, is behind the project.

Coun Karen Bruce said: “It’s incredibly rewarding that the efforts of the local community have paid off and seeing young people so passionately engaged in campaigning for the welfare of the local area has been wonderful.”
