Slideshow: Prince of Wales Hospice cyclothon
Here is a slideshow of the Prince of Wales Hospice’s cyclothon.
Star of the show was Coronation Street’s Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap opera.
The 16-year-old local juggles his acting role with studying at Pontefract New College.
Emma Priestley, events fundraiser at the hospice on Halfpenny Lane, said: “It was really great to have Colson Smith open the event and give out some of the goody bags and medals to the riders. His dad, Nicholas, even took part in or 45 mile route making it a family affair.
“We really appreciate the support of so many budding Cyclists out there and we hope to continue to grow this even more next year.”
The first rider back across the finish line was David Lighten, who took part in the 25 mile route in 1hr 35min 24s.
The winner of the 45-mile race was Ron Hales in 2hr 33m 39s
First in the 60-miler was Simon West in 2hr 48m 49s.
