Wakefield was transformed into a winter wonderland last weekend when the city’s Christmas lights were switched on.
More than 1,500 people braved the rain to enjoy the event on Friday.
Mayor of Wakefield, Coun Sandra Pickin, did the honours of lighting up the cathedral precinct.
There were also performances by Wakefield Cathedral Choir and Wakefield Brass Band.
Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “There was a great atmosphere and even though it rained.
“The lights switch-on represents the launch of the Christmas celebrations in Wakefield and it’s great that so many people came out despite the weather to enjoy the event.”
