Heavy snow is expected to fall across the district tonight (Tuesday), forecasters have warned.

The Met Office has forecast snow from 11pm until noon tomorrow (Wednesday).

It has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning and drivers have been told to expect disruption.

The Met Office said: “An area of snow is expected to extend northeastwards from parts of Wales across the Midlands and into parts of northern England on Tuesday evening and night, persisting into Wednesday morning.

“Accumulations of 3 to 8cm are likely in places, perhaps 10 to 15cm very locally on high ground. The snow should ease gradually through Wednesday morning.”
