Snow forecast for Wakefield district today

Snow could fall across the district this afternoon (Tuesday) as a band of wintry showers sweep across the country.

The Met Office has forecast snow and sleet showers from 1pm today with temperatures falling below freezing overnight.

It has issued a yellow ‘be aware’ warning and drivers have been told to expect disruption.

The Met Office said: “Accumulations of 2-4cm of snow are likely above about 100 m, but also to low levels locally.

“During Tuesday the risk of snow extends into northern England, especially across the Pennines and higher parts of Cumbria.

“The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport.”
