Spittal Hardwick Lane to be closed for three weeks from Monday

Motorists face long delays when one of the main routes between Pontefract and Castleford closes for three weeks.

An 18-week scheme to replace a culvert on Spittal Hardwick Lane is currently being carried out by Wakefield Council.

As part of the works the road will be closed from Monday until November 17.

Graham West, service manager for planning, transportation and highways at Wakefield Council, said: “We apologise for any disruption and inconvenience that this could cause.

“Our contractor is trying to complete the works to the highway culvert as soon as possible.

“The current works are essential if we are to maintain safe access along Spittal Hardwick Lane.”
